About me

My name is Brad Rava. I am a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in Business Analytics at the University of Sydney's Business School. I obtained my Ph.D. in Statistics at the University of Southern California's Marshall School of Business, housed in the Department of Data Sciences and Operations. My advisors were Dr. Gareth James and Dr. Xin Tong.

I am interested in developing methods that help people rethink the way data science is used in industry. Some of my research draws upon Empirical Bayes techniques, Fairness and Transparency in Machine Learning, Statistical Machine Learning, and High Dimensional Statistics.

I am very grateful to have been supported by the NSF’s Graduate Research Fellowship for Mathematical Statistics, USC’s Global Branding Fellowship, and USC's Marshall Fellowship.

In my spare time, I enjoy competing in endurance sports. Most recently including, IronMan Nice 140.6 and the Otillo Swim Run World Series on Catalina Island.
